Why This Site?
I created this site for fun and it’s a great way of sharing thoughts, ideas and events that matter in my life with anyone who’s interested:)
About me (Rowland O’Connor)
I was born at an early age;) in London and have lived in many places in the UK including London, Hampshire, Staffordshire and Berkshire.
My earlier years consisted of lot’s of academic study (I suppose that this would be called “geeky” these days) and competitive sports.
My sporting and leisure activities over the years have included:-
- Competitive swimming to national trial level.
- SCUBA diving. I am an instructor for both PADI and BSAC training agencies as well as being qualified for mixed gas technical diving.
- Weights and fitness. I have been employed as a weight lifting tutor.
- Rugby.
- Boxing.
- Archery.
- Shooting.
- Running.
- Triathlon.
- Horse riding.
As far as work & career go, I’ve had a very broad spectrum of roles including:-
- Lifeguard.
- Peanut bagger (for one day - don’t ask;)).
- Electronics test engineer.
- Project manager for a very large well known electrical engineer (10 years of this).
- IT Consultant in finance and retail industries.
- Self employed. (This is the best thing! I mean no annual reviews, no painful commuting, no salary negotiations, no office politics, no schmoozing with awkward clients.)

Favourite things
- Colour: Blue
- Naughty food: Pizza (especially Pizza Express. Yum!)
- Inspirational character: Winston Churchill.
- Days out: Anything near (or in) water.
Sins
Well not really “sins”, but things that I enjoy in moderation.
- Booze: In order of preference->Single Malt Whiskey, Red Wine, Guinness, White Wine, Larger.
- Gambling: Card games mainly. Poker, Blackjack. I don’t have time to play that often but do enjoy an odd trip to the casino whist away on holiday:)
