How To Add People To You Mafia

I’ve been playing Mafia Wars on facebook for just a few days now and am having some success.

When I started playing, I only had a mafia of around 10 people. Things were tough: making money was slow and I was constantly being attacked by stronger players. Life sucks when you are a Mafia weed:)

It took me just 6 days to go from a mafia of just 10 people to 290, with a current hourly income of $1,598,150.

How did I achieve this? Read on..

It seems that success in this game depends on the number of people that you can recruit into your mafia.

Having many people in your mafia has some obvious advantages:

• A stronger defense against attacks
• A stronger attack (more people)

Perhaps not so obvious is the greatest advantage: More income! More income means more weapons, properties, armour and vehicles. Whilst this doesn’t speed your through the jobs/ rankings, it does mean that you can pretty much dominate attacks, robberies and hits and get some decent extra money this way.

Why More Mafia Means More Income

There are many ways to make income in Mafia Wars including:

• Do jobs
• Do attacks
• Do “hits”
• “Rob” properties
• Own properties

The best way of making income is from properties. Owning properties means that you keep making money even when you are not playing the game. If you own no properties, your income is solely generated from the time that you are playing the game (doing jobs, attacks etc).

Absolutely the best property to own is “Mafia Mike’s”. “Mafia Mike’s” offers a ridiculously high yield($12,000) and, most importantly, cannot be robbed! This means that you could exclusively build your property portfolio exclusively out of “Mafia Mike’s” and never ever get robbed. Cool!

There is a catch to owning lots of “Mafia Mike’s”: You need an ever increasing number of people in your mafia to keep purchasing more.

This means that you somehow need to find a way to get more people into your mafia on an ongoing basis.

Adding People To Your Mafia

If you are playing Mafia Wars on facebook, you can only add people to your mafia if they are in your facebook friends. Obviously, this means that you need to get more facebook friends (and preferably ones that are interested in Mafia Wars!).

Working Around the 24 Invites Per Day Limit

You can invite up to 24 of your facebook friends per day to become part of your mafia. This is not a lot of invites and you might find that you soon run out once you start to add new friends to your facebook. Luckily, Mafia Wars has a built in facility to get around this limit. You simply need to provide a link to your new friends to add them to your mafia. Once they click, they are instantly in your mafia and you in theirs (see below for details).

I’ve tried several methods to add people to my mafia. Some work well, other not so well.

Does NOT Work

“Add me” FAST Groups

There seem to be many groups promising to “Add hundreds” of people to your mafia with little or no effort. My experience with these groups is that they simply do not work. They are usually put up by Mafia Wars players with the self serving interest of adding people to their own lists.

My advice is to steer clear of these groups and to ignore any requests to join them.

Works Well

My best success has come from manually requesting new facebook friends on the Mafia Wars forum.
Before you start, you’ll need a few of things:

1.) Your facebook profile link. You can get this by clicking the “profile” menu as follows.

2.) Your Mafia Wars “Add” link. Find this by clicking the “My Mafia” link in the Mafia Wars game

3.) Set your facebook status. See the image from step 2.) & copy/paste the green link into the white box below it and click “set status“. This sets your facebook status to something like this:

To find new facebook friends for your mafia wars game, the sequence of steps is:

1.) Find the forum “Add Me” for facebook users.

2.) Go to the last page of the forum.

Here you will find many people asking to be added as facebook friends to build their mafia.

By going to the last page (most recent posts), you can be fairly certain that the person is still online and can answer your request quickly.

• Click links that start with “http://www.facebook.com…” [note: links that start “http://apps.facebook….” DO NOT WORK. These people need to be your facebook friend BEFORE “http://apps.facebook..” etc will work.
• Click each link in turn. You will be taken to facebook. Click “add as friend” and add a personal message with something like “Mafia Wars”. In the personal message, you could also add your direct mafia wars request link to save time.
• When you receive confirmation from the person that you are friends, go ahead and post your mafia wars link (e.g. mine is “Join My Mafia: http://apps.facebook.com/inthemafia/status_invite.php?from=1170762261“) on their wall.

Repeat these easy steps and you can easily add around 70-80 new facebook friends per hour to your mafia. As you progress with the game, simply come back to these steps to add more friends to your mafia.

Summary

Steps at a glance:

1. Get your facebook url by clicking “profile” in facebook
2. Set your facebook status to your Mafia Wars url (see step 2 in “Works Well” above)
3. Visit Mafia Wars Forum “Add Me – facebook”
4. Click on the last page of posts
5. Click the “http://www.facebook…” links  (ignore the “http://apps.facebook..” links)
6. Click “add as friend” in facebook
7. When you have a response, post your mafia wars link (e.g. “http://apps.facebook..”) on your new friends wall
8. Repeat steps 1 – 7 to add between 70 to 80 new facebook friends (mafia members) per hour

I hope that you find these steps useful. They are easy but need some manual effort. I’ve found that this is the quickest and most reliable method to add people to my mafia.
