This trip was organised through Berkshire Divecrew as part of PADI Project Aware International Clean-up Day.

Nine of us hit Chesil Beach to do our bit for the environment. Chesil beach is huge and extends for 18 miles so we couldn’t clean up the whole thing in just one day! We did a small area of about 30 x 20 metres. Even in this small area, we managed to collect 3 large plastic rubbish sacks of rubbish including loads of plastic items, discarded sanitary products, fishing line and hypodermic needles.

More photos can be found here.

Apart from the beach clean-up on the surface, a few of us ventured below the waves to pick up litter. To be honest, the underwater area was relatively clear of litter although we did find some of the ubiquitous discarded fishing line.

One of the highlights of the day was the Cuttle Fish! I was lucky enough to have my camera with me.

Check out the flashing body colours! These animals are very cool in my opinion.
